I moved my blog. This post can now be found at http://vegandiva.com/?p=128
Those look delicious. I wish I could find the tofutti cheese slices in my area. I wonder if Wild Oats would carry them if I made a request? Thanks so much for the comments on my blog. I just saw them today. I’ve been obsessed with our new dog and have not been on the internet much.
It doesn’t hurt to ask the manager if they can order it for you. Most places like that are happy to work with you. They probably already carry other Tofutti products so it shouldn’t be that hard to get the cheeze.
Thanks for the nice comment and congrats on your new dog 🙂
I wish I was your neighbor so I could come over pretending to need to borrow some sugar, and then say, mmmm, it smells like vegan breakfast sandwiches, mind if I stay? 😉 Yum!
Love the comment Bazu. Wish you were my neighbor so we could trade food. I’d glady trade a breakfast sandwich for some of Daiku’s soup or a piece of the apple upside down cake 😀
Emmy, i’m with you on the analogs! What the heck, ya know?! I love what you did! I think it would be so cool to take over a McDonald’s (or wherever they make animal-based stuff like this!) one day and serve this in the a.m. and see if anyone noticed that it’s vegan. Bet 99 percent wouldn’t! A pipe dream, i know…
THIS LOOKS AMAZING!! Seriously good, Emmy. Maknig them in the oven is key, i’m sure! Microwaving would not give the right vibe at all. I love Tofutti cheez too… It’s not the best health-wise but it’s sure tasty and a great cheese place taker! And i’m all about knocking the cheese out from my diet once and for all!
Thank you for more inspiration here…
Looks great! Have you tried Gimmie Lean? We love to cook up 2 patties to enjoy with pancakes. Just a little pepper and rosemary in the frying pan and they’re amazing!
Those english muffins sure do look great! I will have to keep a look out for them at the grocery store!
Your breakfast sammie looks better than what you could get at the golden arches?
How’s that cheese taste?
Oh my goodness. Those english muffins are the best in the world. We get them from our co-op and always run out between orders. Seriously? I have to ration them to Avery 🙂
Emmy, that is a deal!
i was just looking for some muffins..! 🙂
I used to make these a lot when I was vegetarian (before vegan) but I just can’t really get on board with vegan cheese. Most of it tastes funny to me (and it’s really expensive). Your version looks really good. It’d also make a great quick dinner (especially with a side of potatoes).
Karen, it may be a pipe dream but that is a wonderful idea!!
Ian, I have tried Gimmie Lean but always thought the taste was missing something. LOL I’ll definitely have to give it a go with some extra pepper and rosemary. Thanks for the heads up 😀
Midwest Vegan, the Tofutti cheeze tastes good when it’s paired with something. On its own, it’s not that good. I use the Tofutti cheeze when I make these, boca burgers, and in pizza and hot pockets (mozzarella). It does melt quickly so you have to watch it closely. If it melts too much, it separates and becomes a mess of oil. Ick! I’ve also tried the Vegan Gourmet cheezes and use the Monterey Jack in Mexican dishes. I’m not fond of the other brands of vegan cheezes on the market.
Mikaela, that’s great Avery likes the Ezekiel English Muffins. Rob wasn’t sure about them until he actually tasted them. Now he loves them. I’m not sure why he was leary of them because he likes Ezekiel Bread. LOL
Bazu, yeah! 🙂
Oh these look really yummy! I’ve never tried the English Muffins or the bagels, but I’m sure they’re great if they’re anything like their other products.
