Ooh I love the Buddha figurines. You find some great stuff at those estate sales! I can’t wait to see what your garden brings this summer.

oops…I meant garage sale! But estate sales, too…

  4. May 1, 2007 3:07 pm

The bamboo dish is lovely! And the chili looks yum 🙂

I usually don’t make chili with tvp either, because Daiku hates it. Then the other night, he made beans and randomly threw in a handful of tvp- I was like, “what…?” It wasn’t too noticeable, though.

You make me want mini loaf pans!!

Nice garage sale finds. I too have a little buddha figurine collection. I hope all goes well once you change realtors- selling houses can be such a nightmare.

You always find the best things at those sales! I really like buddhas, but I don’t have any as yet…maybe I’ll get lucky at a garage sale too.

That dish is beautiful. Is your mom fond of blue & white or does she like asian-style items?

I’d like to go shopping with you! Your mom will be thrilled.

I’ve been craving chili myself, which seems strange as the weather gets warmer, but, hey, sounds good to me!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone 🙂

Aurora’s Mom, my mom has a few Asian pieces in her house…no where near the extent that I do though. She has a lot of blue and white in her house so that plate will match perfectly. I couldn’t believe I got all three things for $3. To make things even better…this sale was directly on the way to a library sale, where I found some awesome books (will post about them soon). I try to plan the sales we go to around the areas we’ll be in. And now to switch topics….Have you started getting your garden around yet?

    Ooh, I love that plate.

I like meat and fake meat stuff, but there is something about TVP that I just don’t care for. It’s kind of sweet, and when I make chili with it, I have to make the chili extra spicy and flavourful to mask the sweetness.

I haven’t done any gardening yet….the weather here hasn’t been so great. Yesterday was so damp and cold, and today is nice but I have some other things to do. I’m waiting for a good warm day so I can clean all the dead stuff out from last year! I usually start things from seed indoors too, and haven’t even done that this year…it’s a little late to start it now, so I guess I’ll be buying the plants instead. Have you+Rob decided what you’ll be growing yet?

ah hah! yes! i was wondering if those mini corn loaves would fit in. this was just calling for it.

  14. May 3, 2007 10:18 am

You have a Shakyamuni collection?! Cool 😀

  15. May 3, 2007 7:09 pm

Urrrrrrrrrgh! Sorry about the realty dilemma. Let me know (e-mail me if you want!) what is going on, Emmy. So disappointing, i’m sure. Maybe those Buddhas will help bring some good karma to you with this!?

    “Lettuce prey!”

Nuttin’ wrong w/mini loaves btw, and that soup looks divine!

i mean chili… it’s not soup. Duh! i’m nursing a cold, so forgive my errant description of your meal, above. i could use some of it!!
